Delete Your Data

Telegraf is a Telegram client for Apple Watch with an iPhone companion app. There is no separate Telegraf account: you sign in with your Telegram account, and our server keeps a Telegram session and a few records so it can relay your chats to the watch. This page explains how to delete them.

Deleting your Telegraf data does not delete your Telegram account, your chats or your contacts in Telegram. Those are managed by Telegram itself.

Option 1 — Log out in the watch app (fastest)

Open Telegraf on your Apple Watch.
In the chat list, tap the gear button to open Settings.
Tap Log Out & Delete Data and confirm with Log Out.

Our server signs the session out of Telegram and deletes your account data right away (see the list below). If you use Telegraf on more than one watch with the same Telegram account, log out on each of them: the account data is deleted when the last device logs out.

Option 2 — End the session from Telegram

If you no longer have the watch, open any Telegram app, go to Settings → Devices and terminate the Telegraf session. Our server checks its sessions every few minutes; when it sees that the session has ended, it deletes your account data the same way as a log out.

Subject: Telegraf data deletion. Include the phone number of the Telegram account you used with Telegraf. We will end the session, delete the account data and the cached media and transcripts for that account, and reply to confirm.

If you simply stop using the app

When none of your devices has used Telegraf for 90 days, the server signs the session out and deletes your account data automatically.

What is deleted from our server

When you log out (or the session ends in Telegram, or after 90 days of inactivity), the server deletes:

Your phone number and account record (the time you first and last used the app).
Your session tokens and device records (device name, app version, last connection).
The Apple push notification tokens of your devices, so no more notifications are sent to them.
The Telegram session file: the authorization key issued by Telegram and Telegram's cache of the chats and contacts you saw.

What is deleted on your watch

Logging out removes the copy of your chats and messages kept on the watch and your session token.

Watch face complications keep a short summary (the unread count and a few chat names with a preview of the latest message). In the watch app version available now, this summary stays on the watch until you sign in again or delete the app. An upcoming update of the watch app removes it when you log out as well.

What expires on its own schedule

These copies are not tied to your account record and are deleted automatically when their time is up, including after you log out. You can ask us by email to delete them sooner.

Cached photos, videos and voice messages: 3 days. Cached profile pictures: 7 days.
Voice message transcripts: 30 days.
Voice messages and dictation you recorded on the watch: deleted right after they are sent or transcribed; any leftover file is removed within one day.
Sign-in attempt records (one-way hashed fingerprints of your IP address and phone number): they count for at most one hour and are deleted at the server's next hourly cleanup after that.
The time of each new sign-in, kept without any identifier: 30 days.

What cannot be deleted individually

Anonymous usage statistics contain no account, device or advertising identifier, so they cannot be linked to you.
Messages you sent through Telegraf are ordinary Telegram messages: they stay in Telegram until you delete them there.
